I was told that LNG produces more CO2 per unit of energy used than
coal, if you allow for fuel used in refrigerating, transporting and
evaporating the LNG.
Is this right?
Does anyone have any calculations or references on this?

There are too many variables in your question, eg size of LNG plant,
quantity of LNG transported, distance travelled etc.
